I agree that Arabs are often very attractive and I often like their interpersonal skills as well. However, I appreciate the difficulties that their culture can produce and have found that the direct approach is often the best. Do you live in the U.K.?
If so, I would like to hear from you. I am a PhD student in the school of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Nottingham and am conducting a research project focusing on the experiences, views and issues of relevance to gay Arab Muslim men/ Arab Muslim men who have sex with men.
The study focuses on sexual and religious identities (for example, what it means to be an Arab Muslim and gay/have sex with men, attitudes to ‘coming out’, ways of finding support, views on dating, relationships and the ‘gay scene’, and more) and am looking for people to take part in the study. Your participation is welcome regardless of your relationship status (e.g. single or partnered) and sexual practice (e.g. celibate or sexually active).
This is the first project of its kind ever to be undertaken in the U.K. and as a participant you will be able to make a unique and valuable contribution to research knowledge about a largely invisible section of the U.K. population. You will also have the opportunity to give voice to specific issues that concern you, and talk about the views and experiences you’ve had living as a gay Arab Muslim man/Arab Muslim man who has sex with men in the U.K. All information provided will be treated confidentially and full anonymity will be assured for anyone who takes part. Travel expenses will be paid. A £10 Amazon gift voucher is given to everyone who participates.
