Turks are in denial about what happened in Armenia. To discuss it publicaly in Turkey carries risks. I am Turkish but I live in England and have over the years known Armenians as friends. I did aslk a straight Armenian friend whether he could ever go with a Turkish girl. He replied that for sex yes, you could switch off and briefly just enjoy the sex. but a long term relationship never. how could you carry the history? for two gay guys one armenian, one a turk, add all the problems that being gsy in both sociieties bring could love alone be enough to see you through. I doubt it. Having said that I do have a gay turkish friend who is in a relationship with a Kurd from Eastern Turkey. But they are here in England. they both know their relationship would have difficulty surviving in Turkey.

I lived in turkey for a while... i turkish men are wonderful, armenian men are wonderful. I think you can't have an open relationship as turk/curk or armenian/turk in turkey. but I also think younger generations are doing it... but not in open. I think to be open you have to leave either of these countries. I think most of the turks don't really care about these things I think they are live and let live, but are afraid of what other people might think so they don't speak up. like most of the people in turkey are muslems but are securlarists, and islam doesn't factor into their lives. they dont do prayer or go to mosque. but they won't speak against muslems (in any sense) because of fear of repisals.

i am living in turkey now for 6 years and it is virtually impossible to have a gay relationship here. the difficulties are not so much religious but cultural. all men are simply expected to get married at some point. a single man in his late 20s or 30s is rare. i have met so many admittedly gay men who married so as not to go against their family's wishes.
