Arab-Gay.com's Future?? (Support; updated)

Dear user,

I hope that you enjoy the arab-gay.com site and and that you appreciate my free service to you. If you do then I would like to ask you to support the site. Your support is needed BADLY for me to be able to continue with arab-gay.com...... I need your suppor in either signups for certain AdultCheck sites or by direct donations.

It’s been said before; arab-gay.com has never been a paysite and I never intended and (eventhough I really need to) I still do not intend to change it into a pay site. I’ve always wanted the site to be accessible to everyone, allowing you all to find the information that you need about the arab gay subject and to connect to as many other users as possible. This has always been the main reason for me to do what I can to try to keep the site free. It’s been problematic in the past but I managed to return with the arab-gay.com site, and it’s still free just like it has always been. It’s a fact though that running this site costs me a lot of money (not to mention the time that it costs me, which I don’t mind) and that I’m simply no longer able to cover all expenses myself. Previously I have been able to cover most of the expenses with revenue from affiliate programs and ads, but times have changed and less people pay for content on pay sites nowadays. And why should they since so much content has become available for free on tube sites and torrent sites etcetera.

To spend a lot of time on working on this site is one thing (moderating, supporting, programming and so on), but to go into debt because of this site is another. I just can’t allow that to happen (actually I should say that I just can’t allow that to happen more than it alread did…).

This site is not run by some multi-million company, it’s run by just me; someone who started this site for fun. I do all the work, I pay all the bills. I never intended to make any profits with the site and I never did (otherwise this site would have turned into a pay site a long time ago) and I don’t even need any financial compensation for the time that I spend on working on the site. WHAT I DO NEED THOUGH is that I am able to pay the arab-gay.com bills, simply because I’m not able to pay the bills from my personal funds anymore.

To be able to continue with the site I need as many users as possible to support arab-gay.com soon. Am I begging for money? Hardly.. I’m only telling you what the situation is like so that you a have choice. I have devoted so much time and energy to arab-gay.com for years and if it turns out that the arab-gay.com users do not want to support the site then frankly eventually I will try to not be bothered about it.. Why should I bother if hardly anyone else does? By asking you for your support at least I’ve tried and haven given you the choice.


I’ve send a message similair to this one to all the arab-gay.com users about six months ago and in that message I also requested users to support arab-gay.com by registering to one of the sites mentioned below, but unfortunately only 2 users decided to actually support the site…… I decided to send this message once more, only this time with more explanation because I hope that it will help you in realising what the situation has turned into and the importance of your support.

FACT: I need at least 100 signups to one of these sites by the end of this month to be able to continue with arab-gay.com:

As far as I’m concerned you don’t even have to like those sites or AdultCheck for that matter to sign up for them (although I doubt that you won’t like them..), the most important thing right now is that you support arab-gay.com if you want to so that I will be able to continue with the site and you can continue to enjoy it.

If those sites don’t get at least 100 signups before the end of the month then I will be forced to close the arab-gay.com site or to put it up for sale. It’s sad but it’s true. With 7,115 registered users on arab-gay.com I don’t think I’m asking too much to need at least 100 users to support the site by signing up to one of those AdultCheck sites. I just hope that enough people will care about arab-gay.com as much as I do. And please don’t think that there will be plenty of others who support the site and that your support isn’t needed.. Please note that signing up to a AdultCheck sites and donating directly are both very discreet and that there will be NO mention of an adult gay site or whatsoever on your bill.

I would suggest that you publicly recognize, IN THE FORUMS, those users who help support Arab-Gay to give the Arab-Gay community an incentive to do this as they will all get to see who is actually helping this site.

It would be helpful to make a list of the 100 supporters on a thread for all to see. This list will eventually grow as more and more users support this cause by either donating or subscribing to one of the sites!

I totally agree with you but some of the users who supported the site prefer to remain anonymous which is why I haven't mentioned their usernames in the forums. So far 8 users have supported the site by signing up for one of the AdultCheck sites (you were the 8th user to support) and two users made a donation. There have also been some users who did support the site but didn't tell me so unfortunately I cannot thank them, but I'd like to invite everyone who either supported or donated to post in this thread.

We still need 92 more signups to one of the sites mentioned above and as many as donations as possible and things seem to be going kinda slowly... I'm getting a little worried because of the time pressure that's envolved. So come on people, support the site and bump up this thread with good news! :)

I would really hate to see this site dissapearing..... Especially now that it has become rather populair (and perhaps too expensive because of that?). I also believe that this site has potential to become far more populair and by that very important as a means to improvement of gay 'rights' in arab countries or at least as a way to get informed or to communicate with like-minded people. Especially for those who live in a society in which being gay is not accepted or tolerated or even worse.. This site should be sponsored by governements and gay right organisations from all over the world! Since that's most likely not going to happen I decided to make a pp donation to arab-gay.com myself, which I just did.

I'm hoping that enough users will support the site and will not allow it to happen that it needs to close.

i know i am new here...but the most thing i liked about this site...its great about of discussions and information and i like it so much..

Update: the total of AdultCheck signups is now 8 and the total of donations is now $110. The number of users who supported the site is 10... The current user count of arab-gay.com is 7,202...

I'm very grateful to the 10 users who are supporting the site but I'm sure you'll understand that I need the support of many more users to be able to continue with the site.

Thanks for your comments habibiasni, and thanks for supporting the site! At the moment I don't really have a choice but to plead, beg, cajole and bully everyone to donate because if I wouldn't the site would simply dissapear, soon. That's not what I want, and I hope and like to think that that's not what most of the users of this site want either. I truly believe that this site eventually can make a difference, somehow, and can improve the quality of life thousands like you said. So far support hasn't exactly been overwhelming, but I'm still hoping that more users will decide to support the site soon.

It wouldn't be too difficult to turn this site into a pay site, but I don't think that any of us would benefit from that. Well, perhaps I would, but making profit is not my goal with this site. And honestly I don't think that this site would actually work well as a paysite. My first goal is to be able to finance this site so that it can continue to exist and my next goal would be to be able to let this site grow in every possible way, so that the whole world would know that there IS a site called arab-gay.com and that anyone who would need the site would be able to find it and use it, without any membership fee.
